Not as good as other born books I have already read. Frankly king Godfrey was without exceptualism. It was clear from the beginning of the book he would fail. Any man who knowingly allows other men to "plough" his wife is a seriously flawed character. I'm hoping Mr. Born will return to usual high standard. The kinkiness of Godfrey's wife rutting other men in full view of him and his followers is nothing more than a cheap attempt to appeal to prurient interest. That passes for entertainment today but I don't have to buy it. I'll try one more book. If it is as flawed as this one then I'll go elsewhere.

Very good series
Loved each of the books, very descriptive, felt as though I was living it with the characters, sharing all of the events in their lives, the good, the bad and the ugly.
I've always enjoyed the Norseman Chronicle series, even when they seem somewhat simplistic.
I read the Saxon Chronicles and I enjoy the historical novels.
Good series-strong characterization and storyline.
Liked it. Did not love it. Interesting device to shake up the series by having the protagonist and comrades lose this. But now we"ll be even more driven to hurry on to the next installment. Too long, too convoluted by half. But a good read. Just.
Halldor is recounting his time in exile with Lief Erickson and how they decide to become Raiders under the self proclaimed King of the Isles. The had some success, gained a little treasure, but have to face the kings desire to be a great king, remembered for his daring. Lief is sleeping with the Kings wife, while the king chases some young wench. A surprise ending that is not what you expect from the hero of a book.
