Finally got my hands on the 3rd book in the Scary Stories series. Another nostalgic book for me, and the drawings have a lot to do with it, so make sure you get the original and not the new book. The stories were a lot scarier as a child, but still great to read and remember how it was back then. Love the drawings and the stories. I recommend the original if you are buying it for nostalgia purposes.

This bit of nostalgia is a must have now that the publisher will no longer use the fantastically creepy artwork that you'll find in these originals.

That said, I don't know anyone who grew up in the early to mid nineties who didn't love these books to death. Perfectly scary, but age appropriate. The stories are short and simple but have great, shocking twists that will keep you up at night. The perfect thing for telling stories around the campfire.
Bought for grandkids. They like it.
Not all that scary, but great illustrations.
I was excited to find this book from my childhood. My son and I really enjoy reading these spooky stories together.
I got this for my kids for Christmas. I read it to them at bedtime. The illustrations are incredible. I know there are newer versions of this book that have a different illustrator and a lot of people complained about it. Make sure you get Stephen Gammell as the illustrator. Most stories are short one to three pages long. My 7-year old definitely enjoys it more than my 5-year old.
A classic! And now that I'm an adult I don't have to hide the book behind all of my other books because of the cover. But everyone knows that is also what makes these books so damn desirable- the cover and creepy, drippy, ghoulish Gammel illustrations. The stories are second, the scares from the pictures are first.
I grew up reading these books, and just had to grab myself a copy now, despite being a grown man. No regrets.
