What are Paper Escapes?
Paper Escapes is a paper-based version of an Escape Room that can be played at home. Like with physical escape rooms, you would have to use elements on your puzzle page to solve a series of complex puzzles within a set time limit to complete a mission or solve a final combination to win. Hints are provided in a book if you get stuck as well as a website is available to verify a successful escape.
How many people can play Paper Escapes - Volume 1
Each paper escape book/game is designed for various team sizes. If your group exceeds that size, try and see who can escape first! Just keep in mind, each team will need their own copy of the book. Makes for a great date night or hanging out with friends and family.

The puzzles in this book could all reasonably be found in a classic escape room.However, despite being billed as an Escape Room experience, this book certainly is not that. After playing over 100 escape room games, I have come to expect a theme as the bare minimum from an escape room experience. Every room has a story, and puzzles that relate somewhat to that story. This book makes no attempt at that.
If I were to try and judge this as a book of puzzles instead, it would fall far short of expectations. I completed this book in 20 minutes, which for 11 puzzles, is quite a disappointment for their lack of challenge. Perhaps I should have drunk some wine first.

Very basic. Disappointing for even a basic experienced puzzler or escape room fan.
Quick background. I've done about 4 escape rooms now so I was pretty excited to try the paper escapes.
There's nothing that beats the thrill of solving physical puzzles, finding secret rooms and unlocking master locks but I got to say that this was pretty fun for staying at home for a good challenge and this time having a nice glass of wine during it.
If you like escape rooms or puzzle games, you'll like paper escapes.
These were very challenging, at least for me (I'm 58). My great niece did much better with them, she is 13 (lol!). They were fun to figure out.
too easy...very boring
Not terribly impressed with this book. The puzzles are all very basic. My wife and I got through it in about 20 minutes, but she fell asleep after about 5 minutes. If you are really interested in try this particular brand of escape books--try the second one. Its better, but still not worth the price in my opinion. This book would be overpriced at $4.
The book says it's a difficulty 3 of 5, it should be a 4 of 5. With a name like Paper Escapes, I was expecting it to be self contained. The book has QR-codes or URLs to verify the answers, which I think could have just been included at the back of the book. It's not what I was expecting, there were about 10 different puzzles that then combine answers to determine the last puzzle. I think it's a bit overpriced for what you get.
