American Legends The Life of Walt Disney eBook Charles River Editors

This is the first of these "American Legend" ebooks I've read. They seem like a good idea: Very short (maybe 10,000 ... more like a long magazine article than a short book) introductions to some influential person's life and career.

Anyway, as for this one specifically: I knew a bit about the life of Walt Disney before, so I don't think I got much new information from the book, but there was nothing that seemed off-base. It certainly doesn't mythologize Disney; in fact, it's much more critical of his personality quirks than most popular versions of his life seem to be. There's no credited author, so you have no sense of who wrote this and what their perspective might be -- but there are some references to suggest at least minimal fact-checking.

Overall, this book's greatest strength -- brevity -- is its greatest weakness. It's a quick read so you can't get bored -- but if you get interested, it's got no depth. Personally, i got it as a freebie so I can't complain. For three bucks... eh... you may be better off with Wikipedia.

American Legends The Life of Walt Disney eBook Charles River Editors Reviews

This was a quick read and a fairly informative book. There were no big surprises. It presented a good bit of facts and did so in a fairly balanced way.
This was really an interesting book to read as well as short.
It gives you some insight into his life and how he became so famous. It is a must read for anyone who wants to read something light.
See Walt Disney, the complex man. This is a concisely written book. You get the full understanding of who he was and became and why. One man whose vision changed the entertainment world forever and is still doing so because the Disney complex continues his vision.
This is more a summary of Walt Disney's life rather than a biography. I don't think the reader knows much more about the man than they probably would have known to begin with. The book barely touches the many creations and movies enjoyed by so many.
This book had a lot of interesting facts and insight into the life of Walt Disney. He was a very driven man and shy at the same time. His brother Roy played a big part in his life. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about the life of Walt Disney. It is an easy read.
It was not really interesting. I finished it because I thought it would get better. It seems he did many interesting things but the presentation was not there. Maybe because he was such a workaholic and he tried and failed monetarily at so many different things, his life was dull and discouraging. He did not seem to have good people skills.
The whole life of Walt Disney is very interesting. Enoyed seeing how his dreams came to life
