Red Swarm eBook David Massengill

After I finished Red Swarm, I went back and read the 11 reviews on Amazon...All were 5 star reviews. There is something wrong there. As for the novel, I kind of enjoyed it. The story moved right along and it was a good, easy, interesting story. I thought it started out a bit slow but quickly picked up speed. In fact, when I finished reading part one, I started part two and stopped, as it seemed I had missed something. I thought the story had ended and I had started another story. I actually went back and reread the last few pages of part one because I thought that was the end and I was trying to get the meaning of the ending, which was not that bad and could actually have been a pretty good ending. Then I went to part two and discovered the novel was continuing. The great part was that part two was the best of the three parts. Part two had the most likable character in the book in my opinion, Tess. Her story was pretty exciting and I kind of assumed that she would have some part in the ultimate plot resolution. Sadly, Tess disappeared after part two. Rachel, the only character in all three parts, became the focus in part three after a bit. And then came the ending. Sigh. Really? Cliche! What a tired twist ending the author used. I was so disappointed. I still enjoyed the book for the most part, but 11 five star ratings out of 11 ratings. No.

Red Swarm eBook David Massengill Reviews

I LOVED this book! I could not put it down! I had to know what was going to happen next. It was suspenseful and full of action and yet heartwarming at the same time. I highly recommend this book.
David Massengill’s Red Swarm is the creepiest insect-horror novel out there! If bugs really make you squirm and you like that, READ THIS BOOK! David does an excellent job weaving together the experiences of several different victims of this bug epidemic into one heart-racing, panic-inducing tale. I couldn’t put Red Swarm down and my skin is still crawling!
A creepy, well-paced apocalypse story about a new type of insect taking over the Pacific Northwest. It is billed as horror, but it's not too gory. The characters are compelling and the cast varied as the author takes you through three different perspectives while the infestation advances and civilization begins to collapse...
Red swarm is a fast-paced, well-written novel that will have fans of creepy horror fiction turning the pages. I appreciated the author's character development and descriptions of the infested Pacific Northwest. I hope to learn more about the evolution of the redbug in a sequel to Red Swarm.
This book - just like the bugs that infect its characters - got under my skin and I could NOT put it down!! Fast paced, thrilling prose from Massengill kept me hooked from the moment I picked it up until the very end. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys getting a glimpse into a post-apocalyptic world and the ways in which human nature reacts and responds to it.
Imagine an episode of the Walking Dead directed by David Cronenberg and you can start to imagine the creepy thrill-ride that is the Red Swarm. Massengill creates a world where there are rules, anomalies and an urgent sense of survival. I found myself unable to put the book down, yearning to find out which characters would survive and which would succumb to the horrific bug attack. It envisions the pandemoniom, frustration and horror that is a world living in fear of an outbreak. The writing is tight, surprising and rich with detail. I strongly recommend this book!
At first, the premise of parasitic red bugs infesting and essentially zombifying human hosts seemed far-fetched, but as author David Massengill weaves the three-part story of the red bug epidemic, I could easily imagine something like this happening in the future as a result of climate change and governmental collapse. Red Swarm is quite the page-turner, with little twists that left me wanting to know what happens next at every turn. Recommended.
